Here in central Maine we understand the importance of Kennebec Valley Community College. It provides education and training for so many of our citizens and, because of its successes, we know that it is a major contributor to the improvement of area employment numbers and in powering our local economy.

Last year, some 4,000 students were turned away from Maine’s community colleges because of a lack of capacity. We must not allow this to continue.

Question 2 on the Nov. 6 ballot asks for voter approval of a bond issue to provide much-needed improvements and equipment for the Maine community colleges, the University of Maine System and Maine Maritime Academy.

Please vote yes on Question 2. It is one of the best investments we could hope to make.
