Thomas Jefferson wrote, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

I was raised in a family of five kids, went to church every Sunday, and was taught to respect and value the concept of liberty and justice for all people.

Those who are afraid of equality for all, and are threatened by the idea of gay people being able to pursue happiness, will not vote yes on Question 1. Fear and lack of empathy tend to close minds.

My family and I will vote yes on Question 1, because it is fair, equitable and the right thing to do.
