Two sentenced in superior court

AUGUSTA — Two people were sentenced this week in separate cases in Kennebec County Superior Court:

* Benjamin F. Lancaster, 31, of Benton, domestic-violence assault Jan. 29 in Benton; 18-month jail sentence, all but 248 days suspended (credit for time served), two years of probation.

* Tayler J. Locke, 20, of Dresden, criminal mischief May 3, 2011, in Hallowell; 364 days in jail, all suspended, one year of administrative release.

Gardiner early voting Saturday, Thursday

GARDINER — City residents can vote early by absentee ballot from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday and until 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 6 Church St.

Sebastian concert opens new venture

WINTRHOP — Folk singer John Sebastian will be the first concert for Win Arts Productions, recently launched by Dick Dyer and John Callinan.

The concert is at 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Winthrop’s Performing Arts Center.

According to a news release, Win Arts seeks to provide a showcase for local performers, booking them as as opening acts for nationally known artists. The John Sebastian concert will open with local singer and songwriter Katie Daggett Webber, according to the release.
