I write in support of Democrat Elizabeth S. “Lisa” Miller’s candidacy for Maine House District 52.

Miller served District 52 with distinction for three terms between 2005 and 2010.

Serving first on the Health and Human Services Committee and later on the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee, Miller brought intelligence and a moderate political temperament to the challenging work of these two committees.

With a background in public health, she also was an effective champion for the public health and safety of her constituents, and I note in particular her advocacy for protecting the Fund for a Healthy Maine for its tobacco cessation and prevention programs and other public health purposes.

I urge the voters of District 52 to return Miller to the State House on Nov. 6.
