AUGUSTA — The two candidates vying to become the next district attorney for Kennebec and Somerset counties will meet tonight for a debate that will be streamed here online.

Democrat Maeghan Maloney and Republican Darrick Banda will speak from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the University of Maine at Augusta Jewett Hall Auditorium.

The debate, sponsored by the UMA Alumni Association and the Kennebec Journal, is free and open to the public. Daniel Wathen, who served for 20 years on the Maine Supreme Judicial Court, will moderate the forum.

The event will be streamed live tonight on the websites of www.kjonline.com, www.onlinesentinel.com and www.uma.edu.
