The last negative mailing about Rep. Karen Foster, R-Augusta, House District 58, has inspired me to send my first letter to the editor. Of course I am biased, but I think anyone who knows Karen would agree.

Other than raising a family, there is no job that Karen has taken more seriously. She does listen to her constituency, as I have witnessed many hours on the telephone, reading and answering emails and attending meetings at all times during the day and evening. She cares deeply about the issues and has labored extensively before making decisions.

It is unfortunate that all of this time and money is being spent by both political parties on these twisted negative mailings. Scare tactics are a reprehensible approach to gaining a legislative seat.

Simply put, Karen wants to help all of her constituents, including her children and grandchildren, enjoy a better Maine life.
