Augusta school board to review policies

AUGUSTA — The Board of Education meets Wednesday to consider approving new policies and policy revisions.

The panel meets at 7 p.m. in council chambers at Augusta City Center.

The board has been reviewing all of the school system’s policies and making some revisions or creating new policies.

New or revised policies up for review by the Augusta Board of Education include: Student Fundraising Activities; Relations with Booster Groups; Public’s Right to Know/Freedom of Access; Management of Concussions and Other Head Injuries; Negotiations; Instruction Goals and Objectives; Curriculum Development and Adoption; Program for Limited English Proficient Students; Home Schooling — Participation in School Programs; and several others.

Board members are also scheduled to:

• hear a presentation on curriculum mapping,

• consider staff resignations, retirements, nominations and recognitions,

• swear-in Morgan Neill as student council representative and

• hear committee reports.

Readfield selectmen to meet Wednesday

READFIELD — The Select Board will hold at special workshop from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Town Office.

The workshop will involve continuing discussions from a planning retreat in August, in which board members will prioritize tasks for the year. In addition, the board will work on updates to an inter-local agreement with the town of Wayne involving the school district, and may also consider a survey.
