AURORA, Ill. — George Williams College of Aurora University presented Professor Emeritus Jeanne Norris of Litchfield, Maine, with the 2012 Spirit Award at an alumni reunion weekend held recently in Williams Bay, Wis.

Norris taught for 26 years at the college’s Hyde Park and Downers Grove campuses. She was instrumental in developing the master of science in exercise physiology and the registered nursing to bachelor’s of science in nursing degrees.

Norris received a music degree from Boston University and a master’s degree in education and a Ph.D. in physiology from Loyola University. She retired from Benedictine College in 1992.

Bowdoin College honors students

BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College has announced its Sarah and James Bowdoin Scholars.

Local students are Adam Childs of South China, class of 2014 , a chemistry and physics major and mathematics minor; Helen Mohney of Gardiner, class of 2015; and Peter Tracy of Augusta, class of 2014, a chemistry and mathematics major.

Thompson receives master’s degree

BOSTON — Malindi M. Thompson of South China, Maine, received a master of public health in maternal and child health from Boston University.

Brochu named to West Point dean’s list

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Alyssa Brochu of Augusta, Maine, daughter of Lisa and Al Brochu, was recently named to the dean’s list at the United States Military Academy Preparatory School at West Point.

McHatten named St. Michael’s writing coach

COLCHESTER, Vt. — Lauren McHatten, daughter of Clifford and Lynn McHatten of Winthrop, Maine, has been named a writing coach at Saint Michael’s College for the fall semester.

McHatten, a junior psychology major, was selected from nominees submitted by college faculty.

She is a graduate of Winthrop High School.

Coaches work-one-on-one with their peers at the college, diagnosing writing problems, designing strategies to help. The coaches work with clients who seek guidance regarding writing assignments for their courses.

Watts inducted into honor society

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Chelsea Watts of Manchester, a junior at Lycoming College and a member of the Greek organization Gamma Delta Sigma, was recently inducted into the college’s Upsilon Omega Chapter of the Order of Omega National Leadership Honor Society.

Pelletier inducted into honor society

ITHACA, N.Y. — Aimee Pelletier of Farmingdale, Maine, was recently inducted into Ithaca College’s Oracle Honor Society.

Pelletier is a clinical health studies major in the college’s School of Health Sciences and Human Performance.

Amero graduates from Saint Joseph’s

STANDISH — Richard Amero of North Monmouth has received a master’s degree in education from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine.
