WATERVILLE — Kennebec Valley Community Action Program recently recognized seven outstanding individuals and organizations for their efforts to build a better future for themselves and others who live in the Kennebec Valley Region. The seven were Honored at the KVCAP Board of Directors’ annual meeting.

According to a press release, two of this year’s recipients were chosen for their extraordinary achievements as individuals who have risen above adversity and personal challenges to ensure a promising future for themselves and their children. The other five individuals were chosen as business and education leaders who maximize resources and work toward enhancing the lives of individuals in central Maine through expanded employment education services.

The Community Teamwork Award presented to the following individuals for their commitment to the Work Ready Program:

* James Baumer, formerly of the Central-Western Maine Workforce Investment Board

* Patricia Theriault, program director, Lawrence Adult Education

* Susan Tuthill, program director, Mid-Maine Regional Community Adult Education

* Tina Chapman, president/ CPO, United Way of Mid-Maine

* Kimberly Lindlof, president/CEO, Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce

The Individual Achievement Awards were presented to Lori Williams and Victoria Man for commitment and personal success in overcoming barriers and strengthening their families.
