WATERVILLE — Kennebec Valley Community Action Program’s Family Enrichment Council will sponsor the following parenting classes:

* Nurturing Fathers, a free 13-week program, is set for 9-11 a.m., Wednesdays, Feb. 25-May 29 (no class April 17), at Educare Central. The focus will be on roots of fathering, nurturing children and self, positive discipline methods, managing anger and resolving conflict, teamwork with partner, balancing work and fathering and more. Childcare and snacks will be provided.

The class will be presented by Ruth Lessard and Deb Rich.

* Active Parenting Now is set for 1-3 p.m., Tuesdays, Feb. 26, March 5, 12, 19, 26 and April 2, at Educare Central.

The six-session video and discussion program is for parents and care providers of children ages 5-12. The program is designed to help raise responsible children by using effective discipline techniques and encouragement skills.

The sessions will be presented by Ruth Lessard.

* Guiding Good Choices is set for 5-7:30 p.m., Mondays, March 4, 11, 18, 25 and April 1, at SKCDC, 347 Maine Ave., Farmingdale. The free, five-week series of parenting classes, is for parents/guardians of children ages 9-14. Topics include: building family relationships and bonds, establishing and reinforcing clear and consistent guidelines.

The sessions will be presented by Deb Rich and Ruth Lessard.

* 1,2,3,4 Parents will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursdays, March 14, 21 and 28, at Lawrence Adult Education, 4 School St., Fairfield. The program will be presented by Ruth Lessard.

The program will also take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, March 28, April 4 and 11, Messalonskee Adult Education, 131 Messalonskee High Dr., Oakland. This program will be presented by Deb Rich.

New information on parenting and child behavior is available for parents and care providers of children ages 1-4. The three two-hour classes will teach discipline methods, how to prevent tantrums, establishing routines and more. The class consists of video vignettes, discussion and activities.
