OAKLAND — Jordan Holmes scored 24 points and Elijah Steele added 23 to lead the Messalonskee boys basketball team past Mt. Ararat 72-52 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game Friday night.
Messalonskee (4-4) led just 45-38 going into the fourth before pulling away.
Holmes and Steele combined to score 25 of the team’s 42 second-half points.
Shy Ulrickson scored 24 points to lead Mt. Ararat (4-4).

Lawrence 58, Oxford Hills 43: Xavier Lewis and Spencer Carey both scored 17 points as the Bulldogs beat the Vikings in a KVAC A game in Fairfield.
Nick Noiles and Aaron LaFrance each had eight points for Lawrence, which improves to 8-1.
Dalton Rice and Ryan Godin each had nine points for Oxford Hills (3-5).

Winthrop 86, Carrabec 35: Hunter Kilgore scored 20 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead the Ramblers to the Mountain Valley conference win on Thursday.
Taylor Morang added 17 points for the Ramblers (3-3) while teammate Ben Allen scored 12.
Boog Dunphy led Carrabec (0-7) with seven points.

Morse 54, Mt. View 41: Ethan Winglass had 12 points as the Shipbuilders beat the Mustangs in a KVAC B game in Bath.
D’Vaugh Myers added nine points for Morse (4-3).
Jack Simpson had 13 points for Mt. View (1-7).

Forest Hills 71, Richmond 40: Derick Ouellette scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Forest Hills in Jackman.
Evn Worster scored a game-high 18 points for the Tigers (8-1), who led 34-20 at the half and never looked back. Matt Turner scored 14 points for the Tigers as well.
Mike Stewart scored a team-high 13 points for Richmond.

Hyde 72, Valley 69, OT: Evander Lenardson scored 11 of his 15 points in two overtime periods to lead the Phoenix to the Class D win in Bath. Warsame Mohamed led Hyde with 18 points while Wilson MacMillan scored 12. Carrington Miller led Valley with 23 points, eight assists and 13 rebounds while Josh West contributed 16 points, 12 rebounds and eight steals.
Valley is 6-2, Hyde is 4-0.

Girls basketball

Carrabec 36, Mt. Abram 33: Jessica Vaillancourt hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Cobras to the MVC win in Salem. Macy Welch and Brooklynee lewis led carrabec with seven points each while Miranda Smith paced the Roadrunners with 10 points. Both teams are 4-4.

Oxford Hills 56, Lawrence 37: Abbie Eastman scored a team-high 13 points and Alex Rowe added 12 to lead the Vikings to the KVAC A win in South Paris.
Tiana Sugars added eight points for Oxford Hills (6-2).
Nia Irving led Lawrence (5-3) with 13 points and Dominique Lewis added 10.

Skowhegan 65, Erskine Academy 31: Morgan Buker scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Indians to a KVAC A win over the Eagles in Skowhegan.
Taylor Johnson and Cheyenne Malloy each added seven points for the Indians (5-3).
Bridget Humphrey scored 19 points and Mia Taylor seven for Erskine (0-8).

Mt. Ararat 53, Messalonskee 36: Chelsea Crawford scored 12 points and Caitlin Lafountain added 11 to lead the Eagles to the KVAC A victory in Topsham.
Mallory Nelson scored 11 points and Kristi Willy added nine for Mt. Ararat (8-0).
Emily York scored 10 points to pace Messalonskee (4-4).

Mt. View 41, Morse 40: Courtney Morse had 11 poitns as the Mustangs beat the Shipbuilders in Thorndike on Thursday.
Brook Tripp added eight points for Mt. View.

Rangeley 44, Greenville 30: Tori Letarte scored 11 points and Abby Abbott added 10 to lead the Lakers in Greenville.
Taylor Esty also had eight points and eight rebounds for Rangeley (5-0), which led 18-14 at the half before breaking the game open.
Courtney Mann led Greenville (1-5) with seven points.

Richmond 60, Forest Hills 47: Jamie Plummer scored 28 points as the Bobcats beat the Tigers in an East/West Conference game in Jackman.
Ciarra Lancaster added 12 points for Richmond (5-2).
Kori Coro had 20 points and Anna Carrier 15 for Forest Hills (7-2).

Maranacook 51, Waterville 12: Christine Miller had 14 points and Sage Hyland 12 as the Black Bears beat the Panthers in a KVAC B game in Readfield.
Catherine Sanborn added nine points for Maranacook (4-4).
Waterville falls to 1-7.

Hyde 48, Valley 16: Diamond Brown had 13 points as the Phoenix beat the Cavaliers in Bethel.
Katie Comeaux had 11 points and Kara Fischer 10 for Hyde (5-0).
Sydney Vincent had six points for Valley (3-5).

Boys hockey

Messalonskee 4, Orono 0: Chase Cunningham scored a hat trick and younger brother Jared Cunningham had a goal and two assists to lead the Eagles in an Eastern B game at Alfond Arena in Orono.
Messalonskee (8-0-0), which out-shot the Red Riots 42-13, scored a pair of goals in the second and third periods.
Jared and Chase Cunningham scored 15 seconds apart early in the second period to open the scoring.
Ben Weeks made 13 saves to earn the victory. Jake Dexter also had two assists.
Orono dropped to 3-4-0.

Women’s basketball

Colby 57, Regis 52: The Mules rallied from a 16-point first-half deficit to beat Regis College 57-52 in a non-conference game Friday night.
Diana Manduca led the Mules (5-6) with 19 points. Waterville Senior High School graduate Jen Nale added 11 points.
The Mules trailed 41-31 with 13 minutes, 9 seconds in the game. They went on a 14-0 run to take a 44-41 lead thanks to a pair of 3-pointers by Manduca, five points by Nale and a three-point play by Jayde Bennett.
Claire Ramonas scored 13 points for Regis (5-4).

Men’s basketball

Johnson State 68, UM-Farmington 65: Andy Bousono made four free throws down the stretch as the Badgers held on to beat the Beavers in a Johnson, Vt.
Maranacook Community School graduate Ben Johnson had 13 points and six rebounds for UMF (7-3, 3-2 in the North Atlantic Conference). Andrew Dickey led the Beavers with 18 points, while Garrett Clemmer had 14 and Yusuf Iman 12.
Bousono had 24 to lead Johnson State (4-6, 2-2 in the conference).

Men’s hockey

Maine 2, Mercyhurst 1: Freshman Ryan Lomberg scored with a little more than six minutes left to snap a 1-1 game at the Civic Center in Portland and lift the Black Bears to their third consecutive victory.
Mercyhurst (8-7-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period before senior Joey Diamond tied it for Maine (5-11-2) later in the period.
The teams will sqaure off at 7 tonight in Orono.

Women’s hockey

Amherst 10, Colby 1: Geneva Lloyd had tow goals and four assists as the Lord Jeffs beat the Mules in Waterville.
Ashley Salerno added two goals, while Tori Salmon, Kaitlyn McInnis, Erin Martin, Madeline Tank, Megan Doyen and Anne Gillard each had none for Amherst (6-4-0, 4-1-0 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference).
Caroline Chessare had the lone goal for Colby (4-6-0,0-5-0 in the conference).

Also Friday: Messalonskee graduate Mary Badeen had seven points and six rebounds in the Maine Maritime Academy women’s basketball teams 51-35 loss to Colby-Sawyer in New London, N.H.
