I have a couple of questions about guns and control thereof.

The Second Amendment to the Constitution was written in 1789 when people used muzzle-loading muskets. These could be “rapidly” fired by expert soldiers at roughly once every 30 seconds.

How have we come to the point where a gun can be easily modified to shoot up to 600 rounds per minute or 10 rounds per second and we equate that somehow to the intent of the Framers of the Constitution?

Why do we need magazines that hold 30 or more rounds of ammunition?

Since I don’t hunt deer, I wonder if they now shoot back, thus making it necessary for our sportsmen and women to wear bullet-resistant garments?

I grew up with guns in my home and enjoyed hunting quail and going target shooting with Marine friends when I was in the service. The guns and the ammunition were always widely separated in our home, however, thus making use for self-defense problematic.

Finally, it is so abhorrent for us as humans to kill a fellow human that our militaries have to spend considerable time and effort to overcome this reluctance in their soldiers. Thus do people really believe that when push comes to shove, they will be able to aim at a fellow human being and pull the trigger?
