BANGOR — Jared Cunningham scored two goals in the third period and Caleb Bernatchez scored an insurance goal as the Messalonskee boys hockey team beat Hampden Academy 6-5 in an Eastern B game Wednesday at Penobscot Ice Arena.

Cunningham finished with three goals and an assist for Messalonskee, which improves to 10-1-0. His brother Chase had three assists, while J.T. Towle had two goals and an assist.

Dylan Burton added two assists for the Eagles and Ben Weeks had 12 saves.

Michael Ward, Cooper Antone, Luther Vom Eigen, William Manning and Dylan Cray scored for Hampden Academy (3-5-0).

Girls basketball

Rangeley 51, Kents Hill 35: Blayke Morin had 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Jenney Abbott had six points and 16 rebounds as the Lakers beat the Huskies in Rangeley.

Seve Deery-DeRaps added eight points and five steals, while Abby Abbott chipped in nine points for Rangeley (10-1).

Sara Grenier had 20 points for the Huskies (2-7).

Hampden Academy 54, Erskine Academy 51: Bridget Humphrey scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the Eagles loss to the Broncos in Hampden.

Erica Meehan led all scorers with 18 points for Hampden (2-11).

Taylor Boucher added seven points for Erskine Academy (0-13).

Wiscasset 55, Winthrop 16: Heidi Pinkham had 14 points and seven steals as the Wolverines beat the Ramblers in an MVC game on Tuesday in Wiscasset.

Briana Goud had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Wiscasset (3-10).

Cat Ouellette had six points for Winthrop (1-12).

Boys basketball

Hampden 63, Erskine 22: Nick Gilpin scored 15 points and his brother Zach added 13 to lead the unbeaten Broncos (13-0) to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A win in South China. Dan Holzworth led Erskine (1-12) with seven points.
