BINGHAM — The Valley High School boys basketball team outscored Hyde by six points in the second half to break a tie game and earn a key 60-54 win in an East/West Conference game Friday night.

The Cavaliers (12-2) defense down the stretch was key, including Dylan Belanger’s effort on Hyde’s leading scorer Warsame Mohammed, who finished with just nine points.

Carrington Miller led Valley with 25 points, while Josh West added 21.

Talin Rowe scored 12 points and Evander Lenardson 11 for Hyde (10-2).

Forest Hills 69, Buckfield 35: Brandon Ouellette scored 14 of his 17 points in the first half and the Tigers cruised to their 11th win of the season, in Jackman.

Ouellette added 11 assists and six steals, while Tanner Daigle had 10 points and 16 rebounds for Forest Hills (11-2). Evan Worster added 13 points for the Tigers.

Jared Eastman had 10 points for Buckfield (6-8).

Hampden 82, Mt. Blue 23: Nicholas Gilpin ahd 13 points and Zach Gilpin had 11 as the Broncos remained unbeaten, in Farmington.

Hampden improves to 14-0.

Kindle Bonsall and Brad Durrel each had five for Mt. Blue (1-13).

Mt. Ararat 78, Erskine 56: Alex Lapierre had 19 points as Mt. Ararat won in Topsham.

Shyheim Ulrickson added 16 points for Mt. Ararat (6-8).

Caleb McGuire had a game-high 24 points for Erskine (1-13).

Vinalhaven 58, Rangeley 21: Shane Carlson had 10 points as the Vikings beat the Lakers in Rangeley.

Hayden Jones added eight points for Vinalhaven (3-10).

A.J. Elms and Michael Haley each had eight points for Rangeley (2-8).

Girls basketball

Lawrence 73, Messalonskee 48: Nia Irving had 18 points and 12 rebounds as the Bulldogs beat the Eagles in a KVAC A game in Fairfield.

Dominique Lewis added 19 points and six assists, while Paige Belanger had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Lawrence (10-4).

Kassi Michaud had 12 pionts, Mikayla Turner 11 and Nikki Collier 10 for Messalonskee (7-7).

Mt. Blue 68, Hampden 30: Mackenzie Conlogue and Miranda Nicely each had 15 points as the Cougars cruised to a KVAC A win in Farmington.

Amy Hilton added 12 points for Mt. Blue (10-4).

Erica Meehan had 10 points for Hampden Academy (2-12).

Rangeley 51, Vinalhaven 22:
Taylor Esty had 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Lakers beat the Vikings in an East/West Conference game in Rangeley.

Blayke Morin added eight points and 10 rebounds for Rangeley (11-1).

Ashley Hamilton had nine points for Vinalhaven (4-9).

Forest Hills 56, Buckfield 23: Dana McNally had 15 points as the Tigers beat the Bucks in Jackman.

Kori Coro added 11 points for Forest Hills (11-2). Anna Carrier grabbed 12 rebounds for the Tigers.
Naudia Wesley had seven points for Buckfield (5-9).

Hyde 52, Valley 42: Kara Fisher had 15 points as the Phoenix beat the Cavaliers in a Western D game in Bingham.

Shannon Ward added 11 points for Hyde (13-0).

Teagan Laweryson scored a game-high 18 points for Valley (5-9).

St. Dominic 49, Carrabec 38: Kelly Pomerleau had 28 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, as the Saints beat the Cobras in a Mountain Valley Conference game in Auburn.

Faith Grady added 19 points for St. Dominic (7-7).

Emma Pluntke had 10 points for Carrabec (5-10).

Monmouth 57, Mt. Abram 53: Sierra Spencer broke open a close game with three 3-pointers in the third quarter to lead the Mustangs to the MVC win in Salem.

Spencer finished with 17 points for Monmouth (11-3) while Kylie Kemp added 16.

Mt. Abram (6-8) was led by Mikayla Luce with 17 points and Miranda Smith with 15.

Mt. Ararat 57, Erskine 41: Mallory Nelson scored a game-high 23 points to lead Mt. Ararat (11-3) to the KVAC B win in South China. Kaitlyn Lafountain added 15.

Erskine (0-14) was led by Bridget Humphrey with 15 points and Taylor Boucher with 11.

Winslow 37, MCI 16: Devin Fitzgibbons had 12 points as the Black Raiders beat the Huskies in a KVAC B game in Winslow.

Alyssa Wood added even points for Winslow (6-8).

Katie Hughes led MCI (0-13) with six points.
