OAKLAND — Gil Roy will interview local families interested in participating in cultural exchange experience by hosting an international high school student for the 2013-14 academic year.
Schools participating in this program are: Lawrence High School, Messalonskee High School, Mt. Blue High School, Skowhegan Area High School, Waterville Senior High School and Winslow High School.
Roy serves as community coordinator for PAX, nonprofit foundation which provides a U.S. high school and homestay program for students from over 40 different countries. PAX students are 15-18 years old, speak English and have full insurance coverage and spending money.
Families are asked to provide students with meals, a place to sleep and a supportive environment. Private rooms are not required and single parents, young couples and retirees are welcome to apply. The application deadline is May 1.
