GARDINER — Ally Day had nine points and eight rebounds in the fourth quarter as the Gardiner Area High School girls basketball team rallied to upset Leavitt Area High School 57-51 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B game Saturday.

Day finished with 17 points and 22 rebounds for the Tigers, who improve to 12-4 with the win.  Gardiner trailed 39-32 after three quarters, but went 7 for 7 from the foul line and 9 for 15 from the floor to outscore the Hornets (13-3) 25-12 in the fourth.

Kylee Granholm added 13 points and four steals for Gardiner.

Kristen Anderson scored 26 points for Leavitt.

Leavitt 58, Gardiner 57: Isaiah Calder scored on a drive to the basket with five seconds left as the Hornets edged the Tigers in Turner Center.

Andrew Middleton led Leavitt (6-8) with 23 points. Mitchell Davis scored 13 and Calder chipped in with 11.

Jensen Orewiler hit four 3-pointers and paced Gardiner (7-9) with 19 points. Tyler Jamison and Seth McFarland each added nine points.

Nokomis 67, Maranacook 49: Andrew Cartright had 24 points as the Warriors pulled away from the Black Bears in Readfield.

Cameron Brochu led Maranacook (6-9) with 16 points. The Black Bears hit nine 3-pointers and seven 2-pointers.
