I was impressed with a letter, “Gun control issue confuses me at 19,” which appeared in the newspaper on Feb. 3.

Nineteen-year-old Leandra Marin said she was confused about the issue but then went on to state her views about it. I think that she did a commendable job of identifying the issues and stating some thoughtful ideas about how we might deal with them.

This kind of dialog is what is needed to help our country deal with this divisive issue. And now this young woman has shown us a place to start.

With the younger generation expressing themselves this way, it is clear that this country has the resources to make some effort to reduce gun violence.
