WATERVILLE — Ian Deveau had seven goals and three assists to lead Colby past New England College 19-11 in non-conference men’s lacrosse action Tuesday.
Deveau just missed tying the Mules’ (2-0-0) record for most goals in a game. Joel Castleman scored eight in 1981. John Jennings added five goals for Colby while Garth Franklin added two and Chip Grossman, Greg McKillop, Kris Molinaro, Keith Fairbrother and James Wyse one apiece.
Colby’s Buddy Reed had a good all-around game with a pair of assists, seven ground balls and two caused turnovers. Peter Reiley stopped five shots.
NEC (1-2-0) was led by Tim Reilly with three goals followed by Pat Miles with two and Matt Goyette, Brian Gillis, Chris Collins, Chris Surette, Adam Shute and Koda-Wataka Robinson with one each. Chris Galluzzo made 18 saves.
Softball
Quinnipiac 6, Maine 5: EmJ Fogel was 3 for 4 with two runs scored an an RBI but the Black Bears couldn’t rally to victory in the first game of a doubleheader in Tampa, Fla.
Hannah hill added two hits, scored a run and had an RBI for Maine (1-19).
Women’s lacrosse
Wesley 15, Thomas 10: Messalonskee graduate Miranda Tinsman had five goals and one assist but the Terriers lost in non-conference action in Orlando, Fla.
Ceara DiBiase added two goals and an assist for Thomas (3-2) while Jillian Lambert, Erin Nelligan and Gardiner graduate Jenn Day had a goal apiece. Brittany Fox made six saves.
Mia Brocco scored five goals for Wesley (3-3) while Jen Jacobs and Nina Cornog each scored three. Rylee Gould chipped in with two goals.
