CHINA — The annual Town Meeting went off without a hitch Saturday, with all the articles approved as written, according to Town Manager Dan L’Heureux.

L’Heureux said the municipal budget totals $2,086,187 and is about $45,000 more than the current one. That total does not include the county tax or money for the schools.

“It was a relatively conservative budget,” L’Heureux said Sunday. “The select board (members) were very sensitive to the economic environment at this time.”

More than 135 people gathered at China Middle School for the three-hour meeting, topping the ordinance-required quorum of 121.

Dick Thompson served as moderator.

Among the articles approved was one calling for 1.9 percent raises for employees of the town.
