BENTON — A Thorndike woman who was involved in a motor vehicle accident in a snowstorm Tuesday, March 19, on Unity Road, has died.

The woman, Jeannine Ann, 65, of Thorndike, was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer eastbound when her vehicle collided with a tractor trailer, according to state police.

She died about 7 p.m. Thursday at Maine Medical Center in Portland, according to Sgt. Aaron Hayden of Maine State Police.

Michael Hogan, 32, of Bangor was operating the 2005 Freightliner tractor trailer, which was towing a dump trailer loaded with road salt when the accident happened about 12:30 p.m. on snow-covered roads. Hogan was westbound to Fairfield.

Ann’s vehicle began to slide into the oncoming lane of traffic and ended up perpendicular to the roadway, according to police.

Police said the accident was due to road conditions during the snowstorm and no charges are expected. Hogan told police he did not have time to stop before the crash occurred.

Hogan was not injured.
