MONMOUTH — Adriana Ortiz-Burnham, a senior at Monmouth Academy, was awarded the 2013 Principal’s Award.

Ortiz-Burnham is president of the National Honor Society, is a member of Academic Decathlon, drama, student council, civil rights team, Key Club, Envirothon and has served as class president. During the past two years, she has served as an assistant teacher in biology, Spanish II and Spanish III. In addition, she has volunteered at the Theater at Monmouth and other non-profit organizations. Ortiz-Burnham plans to attend college and pursue a career in international political science and economics.

She was honored at a recent luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor.

Shagoury

FARMINGDALE — Spencer Shagoury of Hallowell, a senior at Hall-Dale High School, has been selected to receive the 2013 Principal’s Award.

Shagoury is involved in student senate and athletics. As a captain of the soccer team, he helped lead his team to a Western Maine Title. He has taken part in math meets, is employed as a tennis camp counselor and assists at Elder Care. He represented his school at Dirigo Boys State and also served as a legislative page in Augusta. He plans to attend college.

Shagoury was honored at a rececnt luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor.
