AUBURN — A 23-year-old Lewiston man has been denied bail in his first court appearance on charges he killed another man whom he believed was a police informant.
Michael McNaughton is charged with killing 20-year-old Romeo Parent and dumping his body in a stream. He appeared Tuesday in Androscoggin County Superior Court in Auburn.
Police say McNaughton killed Parent in Greene last Tuesday and dumped his body in a stream in Monmouth. Police recovered his body Friday.
A bail hearing has been scheduled for May 9, when prosecutors will argue that McNaughton should be held without bail.
