SALEM TOWNSHIP — Holland Corson, of Kingfield, a Mt. Abram High School senior, was selected to receive the 2013 Principal’s Award, Principal Marco Aliberti recently announced, according to a press release. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

The release said Holland is a model student at Mt. Abram High School. She works hard to meet the high demands of her course work, volunteers to support her community, and is active in the clubs and organizations at school. Corson has been accepted and plans to attend Central Maine Community College majoring in English. Ultimately, she plans to get her masters degree in library science.

Corson and Aliberti joined the other award winners and their principals at an April 6 Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor.

The luncheon recognized these students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. Mr. McGowan and Mr. Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association.
