AUBURN — Kassi Michaud pitched a strong game and also had two hits to lead the Messalonskee softball team past Edward Little 6-1 in the season opener for both teams Wednesday afternoon.

Michaud allowed three hits over six innings. She struck out seven and walked just one. Kylee Knight added two singles for the Eagles.

Messalonskee led 2-1 after six innings, but broke things open with four runs in the top of the seventh. Jordan Roy pitched a scoreless seventh for the Eagles.

Winslow 22, Mt. View 0: Jen Poulin drove in five runs with a home run and a single and the Black Raiders cruised to the opening-day victory in Winslow.

Jessia Pare and Hayley Pottle each added a triple and a single for Winslow. Pare drove in three runs and Pottle had two RBIs. Megan Richards tossed a one-hitter, with two walks and five strikeouts.

Cony 10, Lawrence 1: Sonja Morse tossed a three-hitter and struck out 13 as the Rams downed the Bullogs in Fairfield in the season opener for both schools.

Molly Russell singled twice and belted a two-run homer in the fifth inning for Cony. Olivia Deeves and Arika Brochu added two hits apiece.

Abby King hit a solo home run in the fourth for Lawrence.

Skowhegan 8, Lewiston 2: Shelby Obert had two doubles and Kaitlyn Therriault worked out of a late jam to preserve the KVAC A victory for the Indians in Lewiston.

Lewiston (0-1), trailing just 5-2, loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth inning but Therriault escaped trouble thanks to a groundout, strikeout and then a flyout.

Eliza Bedard also doubled for Skowhegan.

Bangor 5, Erskine 0: Skylar Cassum had three singles and pitched four scoreless innings to lead the Rams to the KVAC A win in Bangor.

Taylor Bouchard and Alyssa Gartley each had two singles for the Eagles (0-1).

Oceanside 7, Nokomis 5: Kennadi Grover hit a three-run home run and also added a single to lead Oceanside to the victory in Newport.

The homer came in a five-run fourth inning that erased a 5-2 deficit.

Ashley Griffith, Becky Orcutt, Lacey Kent-Webberand Danielle George each had two singles for the Warriors (0-1).
