Woman charged with drunken driving

AUGUSTA — A Mount Vernon woman has been charged with drunken driving after crashing her sport-utility vehicle into two utility poles on Hospital Street, police said.

Megan M. Moone, 22, was charged with operating under the influence, according to Augusta Police.

Officers questioned Moone around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday after she crashed her 2005 Jeep Liberty near the Maine State Police Troop D barracks on Hospital Street. Augusta Police Sgt. Christopher Shaw said Moone hit one utility pole, missed the next one, and hit a third pole before coming to a stop.

Moone was not injured in the crash, but the Jeep was destroyed, Shaw said.
