BOSTON (AP) — The Red Sox have placed closer Joel Hanrahan on the disabled list for the second time this season.
Right-hander Allen Webster replaces him on the roster after being recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket.
Hanrahan went on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a strained right forearm. He left Monday night’s 11-inning, 6-5 win over the Minnesota Twins in the ninth with forearm tightness.
He was on the DL from April 14-29 with a strained right hamstring. Andrew Bailey replaced him as closer but went on the disabled list before Monday’s game with a strained right biceps.
Webster is scheduled to start Wednesday night against Minnesota. In one start with Boston this season, he allowed two earned runs in six innings in a 10-inning, 5-4 loss to Kansas City on April 21.
