Firefighters contain damage in Dresden
DRESDEN — Firefighters from several communities were able to save a Middle Road home Tuesday after fire broke out in the basement.
Dresden Fire Chief Gerald Lilly said the single-story, ranch-style home at 729 Middle Road sustained significant smoke damage but was salvageable.
“It was a very good stop,” Lilly said.
Town records indicate the home is owned by Robert Armstrong.
The fire was reported around 11 a.m. Firefighters from Wiscasset, Alna, Woolwich, West Bath and Richmond joined Dresden firefighters in fighting the blaze, Lilly said.
He was unsure whether the home is inhabitable or how many people live there.
Crews remained at the scene for several hours.
