Congress’ inaction furloughed air traffic controllers and closed small airports. It was an inconvenience for American citizens and nation. Sorry, they said, live with it.
Then it became an inconvenience for members of Congress on weekend vacation. Almost at the speed of light, Congress passed and rushed a bill to the White House that rescinded furloughs for air traffic controllers and would keep open small airports.
If only Congress would move at the same speed on the nation’s real problems. That, however, is too much to hope for.
