HARWICH, Mass. — Junior lefty Logan Carmen pitched a three-hit shutout and Tucker White homered to lead the top-seeded University of Southern Maine baseball team to a 5-0 win over Daniel Webster College in the first round of the New England regional tournament Wednesday.

The Huskies (38-7), are one win shy of matching a single-season program win record, will play No. 4 Western New England at 4:30 p.m. today.

All games are being played at Whitehouse Field in Harwich, Mass.

Gardiner graduate Forrest Chadwick went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and a stolen base and Messalonskee graduate Sam Dexter also went 2 for 4.

Carmen struck out five and walked just two. He only allowed three hits.
