MADISON — Madison’s Cable Access Channel 11 has produced a special program featuring the first Maine pro boxing event in the last eight years.

This pro-am boxing match features three amateur bouts of three rounds each. Amateur boxers participating in the event are Joseph Farina (South Boston Boxing) versus Nieko Clow (Wyman Boxing Club); Michael Berrio (South Boston Boxing) versus Phillip Kyser (Wyman Boxing Club) and Mike Materkowski (Lawrence) versus Dalton McGovern (Wyman Boxing Club).

Ben Cowan, ring announcer, welcomed a large crowd of avid boxing fans to Skowhegan High School for the preliminary bouts. Later, he introduced fighters for the Main Event.

Brandon “The Cannon” Berry, of West Forks, and Bad Billy Jones, of southern Maine, ushered in a new era of boxing in Maine. Rule revisions have delayed boxing bouts in Maine for the last eight years.

Beeline Cable customers can view the bouts on at 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. today and Saturday.

DVDs of the fights are available by calling 696-4145 9 a.m.-2 p.m. weekdays.
