AUGUSTA, Maine  — An Oxford university graduate and former Maine legislator will take over as interim president of York County Community College in Maine on July 1.

Christopher Hall, who served as president of the American University in Kosovo from 2007-2012, succeeds Charlie Lyons, who died last August, in the York County College post. Hall’s appointment has been endorsed by the Maine Community College System Board of Trustees.

Hall holds bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees from Oxford University and is a resident of Bristol. Before his work in Kosovo, he was a public policy and economics consultant in Portland and served in both the Maine House and Senate. In 2005-2006, he was on the faculty at Central Maine Community College in Auburn.

York County Community College in Wells has more than 1,500 students.
