FARMINGTON — A Franklin County man has been sent to prison for a year for inappropriate sexual touching of a girl under age 18.
James Lundy of Weld was also ordered last week at sentencing to pay a $1,000 fine and register as a sex offender for 10 years. He pleaded guilty in March to unlawful sexual contact, unlawful sexual touching and allowing minors to possess or drink alcohol. Prosecutors say the plea deal also ensures that the victim does not have to undergo the trauma of a trial.
Authorities say the inappropriate touching occurred between Feb. 23, 2009, and Nov. 30, 2011.
The Sun Journal reports that Lundy’s attorney says his client has expressed remorse and taken responsibility for his actions, which he blamed on alcohol use.
