AUGUSTA — Motorists are being told to avoid Cony Circle after a big rig trailer loaded with wood chips broke free from its tractor.

The mishap occurred at the intersection of Stone Street and Augusta Circle according to Augusta Police Lt. Christopher Read.

A heavy-duty wrecker has been called to help reattach the trailer to the truck.

Traffic is being rerouted in the area.

A Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle unit also has been called to the scene.
