LEEDS — Work to replace the culvert on Route 219 will continue throughout the weekend, so an 18-mile detour will remain in effect.

The state Department of Transportation closed the road Monday and anticipated reopening it Friday.

However, department spokesman Ted Talbot said Friday the work is unfinished. “They need to back fill the new pipe and rebuild a section of roadway.”

The road reopening is now set for Monday, June 10.

The culvert being replaced is 600 feet west of the Route 106 intersection. The detour runs along routes 133 and 106.

Other road work will take place along Route 219 through June, but will not have an impact on traffic, Talbot said.

The $134,000 project is being done by Drew Corp. of Lovell.
