WATERVILLE — The Maine Children’s Home camper scholarships have been providing Maine children with a brighter outlook on the future since 1967. Summer camps that are currently involved in the program include Camp Susan Curtis in Stoneham, Camp Tracy in Oakland, Camp Mechuwana in Winthrop, Fair Haven Camps in Brooks and Julia Clukey’s Camp for Girls in Readfield.
For just $250, a child is sent to overnight summer camp for one week. According to a news release, summer camp fosters independence in developing children, children learn to be responsible for themselves, and camp allows children to learn about different cultures.
To support The Maine Children’s Home Summer Camp Scholarship Program or if you know of a child in need that could benefit from an overnight camping experience, contact Cristen Sawyer, development associate, at 872-0261 or by e-mail at [email protected]
