The June 8 opinion page in contained the very best information regarding education that we have seen, or heard, in eons!
Hats off and kudos to Rep. Lawrence Lockman, R-Amherst, and school teacher Donna Wenckus, who summarize and realistically state what the current educational practices and problems are — and they do so without using rose-colored glasses.
May students in all grades begin to benefit from such remarkable insight and common sense, rather than have them remain in a fuzzy “feel-good” world. Relying mainly on social aspects of education is the modus operandi in too many schools. Such a practice undercuts the academic and certainly is not a blueprint for success.
Thank you Representative Lockman and teacher Wenckus. Thank you both for a rare moment of clarity.
