SKOWHEGAN — Spectrum Generations Somerset Community Center seeks volunteer drivers to deliver Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors and disabled adults in Somerset County out of its Skowhegan office starting immediately. Drivers are needed to assist with coverage of the following routes: Solon/Embden, Skowhegan, Bingham, Jackman, Madison/Norridgewock, Hartland/St Albans, and Pittsfield routes. Applications for backup drivers are always accepted. Drivers are reimbursed for mileage, according to a Meals on Wheels Meals news release.

“We have 11 seniors in Bingham, eight in Jackman, 23 in Hartland and St. Albans, 31 in Skowhegan, 16 in the Pittsfield area and 26 seniors on our Madison/Norridgewock route that are in jeopardy of going without food if we do not find volunteer drivers and back up drivers to deliver,” said Nutrition Coordinator Ryan Poirier. “If meals are not delivered, some of these residents will go hungry,” according to the release.
