Why? Why? Why does this newspaper, the Morning Sentinel, keep using the term “nun killer” in referring to Mark Bechard?
Yes, it is true that Mark did kill two of our sisters and seriously injured two others. But Mark is paying the price and has been doing so for the past 17 years. To continue to label Mark is, I believe, exploiting the term, especially after so many years.
In acknowledging the significance and consequences of some privileges requested by Mark and believing firmly the public has a right to be informed of court hearings and outcome I, nonetheless, ask our friends at the Sentinel to refrain from using the term “nun killer” in the future. I ask this for ourselves and out of respect for the parents of Mark and the family. Thank you.
