GREENSBORO, N.C. — Waterville graduate Bethanie Brown followed up her impressive showing Friday at the New Balance Nationals Outdoors with another one Saturday night at the University of North Carolina A&T University.

Brown, who earned All-American status Friday after finishing third in the 5,000-meter run, finished eighth in the 2-mile run Saturday.

She finished with a time of 10 minutes, 24.44 seconds. Wesley Frazier, of Raleigh, N.C., won the race in 10:07.35.

Brown earned All-American status Friday night when she finished the 5,000 in 16:41.84.

The top six in each event earn All-American status.

Frazier won the race in 15:55.94. Erin Finn, of West Bloomfield, Mich., was second in 16:17.89.

Brown, who helped lead Waterville to its eighth consecutive Class B outdoor championship this spring, will attend the University of Connecticut in the fall.

Legion baseball

Red Barn 14-8, Madison 2-3: Zack Lachance picked up the pitching win in the first game and collected two hits in the second as the Red Barn swept host Madison.

Lachance allowed four hits and struck out six in the first game. shortened to five innings because of the mercy rule. Chandler Shostak led the winners with a double, two triples and three runs while Sean Cabiness added a pair of singles.

Lachance doubled and singled in the second game while Shostak and John Suga each singled twice for the Red Barn (2-0) and Tayler Carrier had an RBI double.

Garrett Emery doubled home a run for Madison (0-2).

Junior Legion

Post 14 9, Biddeford 0: JT Nutting pitched a no-hitter and struck out 12 to lead Post 14 to the win.

Cody Martin tripled, doubled twice and singled to lead Post 14 hitters. Danny Pooler tripled and singled for the winners, knocking in two runs, while teammate Nick Ryan singled twice with two RBIs.

Post 14 11, Deering 0: Cole Robinson pitched a one-hitter in a game shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule. Robinson struck out five, walked four and also contributed a double. Cody Martin doubled twice for Post 14 (3-0) and drove in a run.
