A driver on Interstate 295 experienced a massive stroke, causing his vehicle to drift into the side of a passing tractor-trailer. The driver then was able to stop the vehicle in the breakdown lane. He was taken by ambulance to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, where he died as a result of the stroke.

A 2001 Dodge Intrepid being driven south on Route 218 by a 79-year-old Whitefield woman was hit from behind by a 2004 Mazda Tribute being driven south by a 61-year-old Pittston woman as the Intrepid slowed to turn left into a driveway.

At 7:09 p.m., Michael Lewis Jacobs, 51, of Augusta, was arrested on a charge of criminal trespass on Winthrop Street.
Chelsea
Friday
John James, 48, of Chelsea, was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence and operating without a license by police responding to a report of man who had fallen over on his motorcycle while stationary on Togus Road. Police determined the motorcycle had been reported stolen earlier in the day. The theft investigation is ongoing.

Thursday
Deborah Miles, 57, was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence by police responding to a report of an erratic driver. The traffic stop occurred in Waldoboro.

At 1:25 p.m., Travis Rick Glidden, 20, of Gardiner, was arrested on warrants on Highland Avenue.
