NEW SHARON — A Canadian man was arrested and a 15-year-old boy injured in a truck crash on Weeks Mills Road early Monday morning.

Adam King, 20, of Newfoundland, was arrested by Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Nicholas Zecher and charged with operating under the influence involving a serious injury, according to Lt. David Rackliffe of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department. The pickup truck he was driving had been reported stolen.

The 15-year-old was checked by medical personnel at the scene of the 12:30 a.m. crash and taken by NorthStar Ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital with a possible head injury. He was then transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he was listed in stable condition.

The 1992 GMC pickup driven by King is owned by Jeffrey Thomas, of Harmony, who reported the truck stolen after the crash, Rackliffe said. The crash is being investigated by the sheriff’s department.

Rackliffe said he didn’t know how King and the passenger knew each other.

King also had minor injuries from the accident and was checked by NorthStar Ambulance personnel, but he refused medical care.

New Sharon Fire Department assisted the accident by providing early medical care as well as traffic control.
