I am writing in response to the latest vote in the U.S. House on gun control. I feel it was a total mistake on their behalf not to institute some sort of background checks for private sale gun purchases. Is this really an infringement on our constitutional rights? I do not see where it would be anything but beneficial to the American public.
It seems to me that the U.S. Congress should pass legislation that not only has background checks for private sales, but also includes a psychological check.
I do not understand why people say this is against their constitutional rights. The Second Amendment was written 234 years ago. Times have changed, and not all of the citizens in the U.S. deserve the right to bear arms.
We as a nation have to work together to help curb gun violence and keep guns out of criminals’ hands.
