DAMARISCOTTA — Skidompha Public Library will hold a launch party for the first book from its new publishing house, Skidompha Press, from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 30, in the library’s atrium, 184 Main St.

The book — “Emil Landau: Surviving the Third Reich” — is by David S. Swanson of Walpole, a retired business executive, who describes himself as “a recorder who has tried to summarize the words and thoughts of Damariscotta’s only survivor of the Nazi Holocaust,” according to a news release from the library. Swanson will be keynote speaker at Sunday’s event.

Swanson volunteered to write Landau’s story, and spent much of two years interviewing Landau. Members of the library’s Emil Landau Human Rights Forum, formed after Landau’s death in 2007, heard about Swanson’s project and determined to publish the work.

The 94-page book, which includes photos of Landau’s family and the camps where he was held, will be on sale for $18 at the library and at book stores.
