PITTSTON — A Litchfield man is facing charges that he hit another man with a car, twice, in a dispute over a woman.

Danny Jackson, 39, of Litchfield, was charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and operating after habitual offender revocation.

James Jackson suffered only superficial injuries, according to Kennebec County Sheriff Randall Liberty.

The events unfolded Friday on Pinkham Road after Jackson accused another man, James Jackson of Gardiner, of having a physical relationship with Danny Jackson’s girlfriend, Liberty said. He is unsure how, or if, Danny and James Jackson are related.

James Jackson walked away from the confrontation, at which point Danny Jackson got into his 2001 Subaru Legacy and drove past James Jackson as he walked along the edge of Pinkham Road. Danny Jackson passed close enough that the Subaru’s mirror hit James Jackson and knocked him to the ground, Liberty said. James Jackson scrambled to his feet, at which point Danny Jackson put the Subaru in reverse and backed into James Jackson, hitting him with the car’s rear bumper, Liberty said.

At that point, James Jackson grabbed a rock and smashed the Subaru’s windshield, Liberty said.
