SIDNEY — The Sidney Historical Society will hold its July meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Grange on the Middle Road, according to a Sidney Historical Society press release.

Ellen Dyer will speak on Early Maine Gravestones, an illustrated talk on the symbols and language used on 18th and early 19th century gravestones in Maine, drawing primarily on cemeteries in the midcoast area. Dyer is an independent museum professional, with fifteen years of experience in library, archives and museum settings. Her experience includes working as the executive director of The General Henry Knox Museum, an outreach consultant for the Maine Historical Society’s Maine Memory Network and the archivist for the Camden Public Library.
