SKOWHEGAN — Four underage people from Fairfield and Albion were charged early Wednesday with possession of alcoholic beverages as minors after police responded to a report of a loud party and a street fight involving as many as 10 people.

One of the four charged, Shawn Goodale, 20, of Fairfield, was arrested and taken to the county jail on a warrant from Waterville for failure to appear at a fine hearing on a theft charge. The others were issued summonses to appear in court, police Deputy Chief Dan Summers said.

Summers said police officers were called to South Factory Street just after 2:30 a.m. because of a report of a crowd of people fighting in the street.

He said when police arrived to clear the street, they discovered underage people who had been drinking alcohol. No one was injured in the fight.

“There were people that claimed to have been assaulted, but nobody was willing to cooperate with the police as far telling us exactly what had happened or provide a statement,” Summers said.

Charged with illegal possession of alcohol were Derek Pamphrey, 20, of Fairfield; Bailey Paquette, 20, of Albion; Daniel Hawes, 20, of Fairfield; and Goodale.

Summers said Sgt. Joel Cummings is expected to bring charges against the adult who rents the apartment for allowing minors to consume alcohol there.
