WINSLOW — Police released security camera images today of the two armed men who robbed the Bangor Savings Bank in Winslow last week.

Security camera video shows the two men, one about 50 to 60 years old and the other between 20 and 30 years old, as they entered the bank, each waving a handgun and ordering people to the floor, according to Detective Gina Henderson of the Winslow Police Department.

The younger man left the view of the security camera and checked bank offices, while the other man, with a black duffel bag on his shoulder, stood in the lobby.

The video showed a customer who entered the bank while the two men were there immediately ordered to the floor by the older man, according to Henderson.

The men entered the bank at 11:13 a.m. Friday and were gone when police arrived at 11:17, one minute after receiving the call, according to Winslow police.

The two men were both wearing heavily stained painting coveralls and sunglasses. The older one had a thick, gray handlebar mustache and weighs around 250 pounds, while the younger man was taller, with a slight accent. Henderson said interviews with employees and customers are continuing and they have not been able to identify the accent.

Police said they are looking for the public’s help in identifying the robbers.

Winslow police and the FBI are investigating the robber, and Henderson said evidence has been sent to the Maine State Police crime lab in Augusta.

“We’re proceeding, but we’re waiting for results from the crime lab,” said Henderson. She wouldn’t give details about the evidence.

It’s a federal crime to rob a bank that’s a member of the Federal Reserve, which Bangor Savings Bank is.

The Winslow Police Department asks anyone with information about the robbery or who may recognize the men in the surveillance images to call 872-5125.
