NEW SHARON — An auto-shop thief stripped a pickup truck of its front and rear doors, bumper and tailgate, but left valuable tools in the shop untouched, in a burglary that was discovered Wednesday.
The stolen parts can only be used on a Dodge pickup truck made between 2002 and 2005, according to Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols, who is seeking the public’s help in the investigation.
The theft was reported around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday by Todd Olsen who had been repairing the truck at an auto body shop at his residence.
Nichols said Olsen last saw the parts and truck intact the day before at his 408 Farmington Falls Road shop.
The truck belongs to J & R Motors, a car dealership owned by Michael Distefano on Farmington Falls Road.
The sheriff’s department asks that anyone with information about the theft to contact Cpl. Chris Chase at 778-2680.
