AUGUSTA — Using large, block-print letters, a young girl who was sexually assaulted four years ago wrote that she remains afraid her attacker will hurt her again.

The child’s printed note was one of several victim impact statements read aloud to Justice Donald Marden on Wednesday before the sentencing of Lester House Good in Kennebec County Superior Court.

Good, 36, of Troupsberg, N.Y., pleaded guilty in May to a charge of unlawful sexual contact that occurred Aug. 9, 2009, in Monmouth with the girl, who was 2 then.

At that May hearing, the prosecutor, Deputy District Attorney Fernand LaRochelle, said the offense happened when Good went into a room where his young daughter and the victim were sleeping. Good later told investigators — including a New York State Police officer — that the sexual contact occurred when he reached under the child’s diaper.

“It happened for a minute; then I left. I feel horrible about it. It only happened for a minute,” LaRochelle quoted Good as telling officers.

The girl told her mother that something had happened, and a teenage girl who had been sleeping in the living room said Good was in the bedroom with the young girls for so long that she looked in and asked him whether something was wrong.

Neither the girl’s mother nor doctors were able to see any injuries on the child, LaRochelle said.

On Wednesday, Good was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with all but three years suspended, and four years’ probation. He also was ordered to register under the state’s Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.

Conditions of probation ban him from contact with the victim and from unsupervised contact with children under 12.

“The sentence that we negotiated was the result of legal issues,” said Good’s attorney, Ronald Bourget. “It was likely the defendant would have received a lengthier sentence if he had been convicted at a trial, due to the age of the victim and new legislative changes.”

A number of other people were sentenced Wednesday and Thursday in Kennebec County Superior Court:

• Kimberly J. Bartlett, of Waterville, criminal threatening March 28 in Waterville; 24-hour sentence.

• Jacob Richard Crismod, 23, of Maple Shade, N.J., violating condition of release March 29 in Monmouth; $100 fine.

• Pamela D’Andrea, 53, of Gardiner and formerly of Auburn, burglary and theft Sept. 6,  2010, in Rome; four-year sentence with all but eight months suspended, two years’ probation, $1,761 restitution.

• Jason A. Grant, 34, of Oakland, aggravated operating after habitual-offender revocation and operating under the influence July 5 in Augusta; 48-month sentence, three-year license and registration suspension, $1,200 fine.

• Jeffrey K. Hunter, 37, of Oakland, domestic-violence assault Nov. 7, 2012, in Oakland; 364-day sentence, all suspended, two years’ probation.

• Joshua L. Palmer, 26, of Augusta, violation of condition of release and indecent conduct May 20 in Augusta; 364-day sentence, all but 80 days suspended, one-year administrative release.

• Angelica Ruest, 20, of Waterville, two counts of assault July 8, 2012, in Waterville; 10-day sentence, $600 fine.

• Nathan E. Wheeler, 25, of Augusta, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and criminal mischief March 25 in Augusta; five-month sentence, $300 restitution.
