BRUNSWICK — A Brunswick animal shelter is trying to find homes for almost 100 cats rescued from a Freeport house.
The Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick began removing the cats from the home after the man who lived there reached out. The man took in a few strays three years ago and now has more cats than he can handle.
Veterinarian Mandie Wehr tells WMTW-TV the cats are well fed and have been treated well.
The humane society is scrambling to find space for all the cats and hoping people come in to adopt the cats or at least donate some food, litter and other supplies.
The shelter says it takes about $550 per cat to get each one cleaned, spayed or neutered and ready for adoption.
